University of Essex

The University of Essex School of Biological Sciences is one of the University’s largest and most internationally renowned departments. With a range of centers, units and labs, the school places an emphasis on research. In regards to photosynthesis, the school has played a pioneering role in developing chlorophyll fluorescence and imaging technology to monitor photosynthesis in plants, and recently, they have developed a way to monitor water-use efficiency in plants, creating a non-invasive tool for plant scientists to identify variations in photosynthetic abilities.
