André Alcântara is a molecular biologist who has focused on plant transformations and transient expression analysis. Formerly, he was a post-graduate biochemist with the Lancaster Environment Centre at Lancaster University. For the RIPE project, he screened Rubisco catalytic proprieties from a wide array of species to identify the most promising variants. Alcântara earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in biology and biotechnology from the University of Lisbon.
