Postdoc Doug Orr is a Biochemist for the Lancaster Environment Centre at Lancaster University. He earned his BS in Biochemistry and Microbiology from La Trobe University, and earned his Ph.D. at The Australian National University’s Research School of Biology. His work has been published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences and other publications. Doug's experience is in chloroplast transformation and biochemistry. Specifically, he has worked on Rubisco kinetics and the post-translational modifications that occur to Rubisco. As part of the RIPE project he will be exploring the natural diversity of Rubisco kinetics across a wide range of species to examine how existing variation in nature can assist in efforts to engineer an improved Rubisco for crop species.
