Read the Q&A below to learn more about RIPE’s newest team member!
What made you interested in the RIPE project?
I was interested in the RIPE project because I had no idea that improving photosynthesis to increase crop productivity was even possible! It’s such an innovative approach, and learning about it was pretty eye opening. I also really appreciated the project's focus on tackling food insecurity and creating sustainable solutions for our growing world.
What are you looking forward to about the RIPE internship/mentorship program?
I’m looking forward to gaining hands-on experience in science communication and developing my skills in a professional setting. I’m eager to learn and grow through this mentorship, and I'm especially excited to gain new perspectives and meet new people.
What experiences will you bring to RIPE?
Although I don’t have formal professional experience in science communication, my academic background in environmental sciences and communication have given me a strong foundation of knowledge. I’m eager to apply my knowledge and develop these skills in a practical setting.
What do you like to do for fun?
I enjoy baking, traveling, and art. I am always open to trying new things, especially if it allows me to be creative and connect with new experiences.
Maria may be reaching out to you in the coming months to talk about your research, please help us welcome her to the team!
