Sunitha Subramaniam worked on the RIPE project as a research assistant at the University of Essex in the lab of Christine Raines. Her interests lie in plant responses to abiotic and biotic stress—and the subsequent effect on plant yields. Sunitha’s work for the RIPE project focused on experiments involving molecular biology, protein analysis, phenotyping, and physiological techniques. She is also involved in the growth and maintenance of genetically modified tobacco under controlled environmental and greenhouse conditions. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Anna University, her master’s degree in biotechnology from the University of Essex, and received her doctorate in plant molecular biology from the University of Essex. Her work is published in journals such as The Plant Cell, The Plant Journal, and Steroids.
