Justin McGrath is Research Plant Physiologist for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service (USDA-ARS) with the Global Change and Photosynthesis Research Unit and an adjunct professor of plant biology at the University of Illinois. Justin is an expert in plant physiology and climate change. He has worked at SoyFACE and AspenFACE researching the effects of elevated carbon dioxide and ozone on plant physiology. He also uses statistical models to examine the effects of elevated carbon dioxide on historical yields and nutritional quality of crops in the U.S. Currently, he is developing a dynamical model of carbon diffusion in leaves to identity areas of photosynthesis that can be improved. Justin received his bachelor’s degree in biology from Bradley University and his doctorate in plant biology at the University of Illinois. His work has been published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Plant Physiology, and other journals.
