For the RIPE project, he will be developing and applying remote sensing and data assimilation for the high-throughput pheneotyping of key physiological traits associated with productivity, yield, and partitioning of biomass. Peng earned his bachelor's degree in geographic information systems from Huazhong Agriculture University in China. He received his master's degree in geography and went on to earn his doctorate in spatial and earth sciences from Indiana State University. His work is published in many peer-reviewed journals, including Plant Cell & Environment, Remote Sensing of Environment, and ISPRS Journal of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing.
