Shellie Wall is a senior research officer at the University of Essex--School of Life Sciences. Her research focuses on creating a line of plants that will be able to react more quickly to changes in the environment. This would then allow plants to utilize more available resources and ultimately increase yields. For the RIPE project, Shellie is using CRISPR technology and golden gate cloning to create transgenic lines of tobacco with improved differing stomatal dynamic responses to boost photosynthesis. Shellie earned her bachelor's degree in biological sciences and her doctorate's degree in plant biology (physiology) at the University of Essex. She is currently completing her postdoctoral research in plant biology (molecular biology and physiology) at the University of Essex.
