Shellie Wall is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Her research focuses on creating a line of plants that will be able to react more quickly to changes in the environment. This would then allow plants to utilize more available resources and ultimately increase yields. For the RIPE project, Shellie is using CRISPR technology and golden gate cloning to create transgenic lines of tobacco with improved differing stomatal dynamic responses to boost photosynthesis. Shellie earned her bachelor's degree in biological sciences and her doctorate's degree in plant biology (physiology) at the University of Essex.
