Anna Leipertz, a lab technician in the Niyogi Lab at the University of California, Berkeley, focuses on improving plant photoprotective efficiency in order to help plants protect themselves and allocate more resources towards photosynthesis. Her current role in the RIPE project is investigating how gene editing in rice using the CRISPR/Cas9 system can lead to better photoprotection. Leipertz bachelor’s degree in integrative biology from UCB endorses her effort and passion on her project objective of relaxing photoprotection.
