Lucía Arce Cubas is a postdoctoral research associate in the Leonelli Lab at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, focusing on enhancing the photosynthetic efficiency of C4 crops. Lucía’s expertise lies in the physiology, genetics, and molecular biology of C4 photosynthesis, and she is particularly passionate about how photosynthesis performs under dynamic light conditions and their photoprotective mechanisms. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biochemistry and microbiology from the University of Sheffield then earned her Ph.D. in plant sciences from the University of Cambridge.
