Komal Attri is a postdoctoral research associate at the Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology, primarily focusing on relaxing photoprotection. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Plant Breeding, Genetics, and Biotechnology with Honors at Punjab Agricultural University in Punjab, India. She then moved on to get a Doctorate in Biology with a focus in Plant small RNA biology at Texas Tech University. She is interested in identifying gene-regulatory mechanisms in plants, specifically small RNA-based regulatory mechanisms involved in photosynthesis and photoprotection. Peers can find her work in the New Phytologist, and she was also a reviewer for The Plant Journal. Her role within the RIPE project is elucidating the role of the lutein epoxide cycle in energy harvesting and photoprotection.
