Beatriz Moreno García was a senior research officer at the University of Essex. Her research focused on the development of crops with higher photosynthetic capacity and yield for food security. For the RIPE project, Beatriz generated transgenic plants with novel transgene targets and combinations, with a focus on improving RuBP regeneration. Beatriz earned her bachelor's degree in biotechnology and master's degree in plant biotechnology at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. She later earned her doctorate in plant metabolic engineering at the University of Oxford. Her work has been published in Plant, Cell & Environment, and she was awarded doctoral scholarships by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) and the University of Oxford.
