Megan L. Matthews is an assistant professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Illinois. Her work involves developing multiscale computational models to explore the impacts of a changing environment on plants and to identify engineering strategies for improving plant development and growth. As part of the RIPE project, she is working on developing multiscale photosynthesis and crop growth models that integrate information across multiple biological levels of organization. Megan earned her bachelor's degree, master's degree, and a doctorate in electrical engineering from North Carolina State University. Her work is published in several peer-reviewed journals including Nature Communications, PLOS Computational Biology, and Current Opinion in Biotechnology.
