Abdeljalil Elhabti is a senior research officer at the University of Essex. His research
focuses on investigating the ways in which plants convert sunlight and water into food. For
RIPE, Abdeljalil evaluates transgenic soybean and cowpea with improved photosynthesis to identify potential novel targets for enhanced crop productivity. Elhabti earned his bachelor’s degree in cell biology and physiology and his master’s in plant biology and biotechnology from the University of Bordeaux. He earned his doctorate in crop science and was a postdoc in crop physiology and breeding from the University of Adelaide. His work has been published in the Journal of Experimental Botany, Frontiers in Plant Science, and Plant Methods.
