Andrew Leakey is an associate professor at the University of Illinois. Andrew’s research focuses on improving mechanistic understanding of plant responses in natural and agricultural ecosystems to global environmental change. His work combines molecular, biochemical, physiological, and ecological tools to assess plant performance in manipulative field experiments and controlled environment chambers.

Andrew earned his bachelor's degree in plant sciences and his doctorate in tropical tree physiology and ecology, both from the University of Sheffield. He has won numerous awards and has landed on the list of teachers ranked excellent by students for five semesters since Spring 2007 at the University of Illinois. His work has appeared in the publications such as Science and Global Change Biology, as well as many others.
