Cindy Chan is the data manager for the RIPE project. Her role is to help create and implement a Database Management Plan and platform that will help facilitate the storage, preservation, and distribution of the RIPE project’s data. She is also a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Illinois. Her research project aims to improve the photosynthetic capacity of crops. For RIPE, she will use her expertise in molecular physiology and imaging techniques to engineer the primary genes involved pathways known to improve photosynthesis. Cindy received her bachelor's degree in biotechnology from the University Malaysia Sabah and received her master's degree in forensic science from the University of Cordoba, Instituto Superior de Ciências da Saúde Egas Moniz, and the University of Lincoln. Cindy went on to earn her doctorate in plant sciences from the University of Cambridge. Her work is published in Plant and Cell Physiology and the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS).
