Venkat Srinivasan was a postdoctoral researcher for the RIPE project at the University of Illinois. Today he is an assistant professor at the Indian Institute of Technology in Madras. Venkat's expertise includes eco-hydrology, stochastic non-linear dynamics, and contaminant remediation. For the RIPE project, he developed dynamic vegetation models under climate change scenarios. His work focused on scaling leaf-level processes to the canopy and the ecosystem scales and quantifying the changes in the fluxes of carbon and water and energy under climate change. He received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology and went on to get his master’s degree in civil engineering from Auburn University. He also received his doctorate in civil and environmental engineering from the University of Illinois. His work has been published in Advances in Water Resources and other publications.
