Doug Allen is a research computational biologist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service (USDA-ARS) and a principal investigator with the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center in St. Louis. Doug’s work revolves around understanding the metabolic networks of oilseed plants to enhance biomass composition using experimental and computational methods. These investigations give insight into plant metabolism, important for designing crops to meet future nutritional and chemical feedstock needs. Doug earned his bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University, and went on to earn his doctorate in engineering from Purdue University. His work has been published in multiple journals, including Science, The Plant Journal, and Plant, Cell, & Environment.
